Aldridge, whose father was a sheet metal worker, had failed his plus exams that would have allowed him to advance to higher-level schooling under England's former two-tiered educational system. As Aldridge himself described it to the Sunday Times: "My options were being closed down.
After leaving school at the age of 16, Aldridge went to work in the mail room at a local council office. Yet Aldridge sought more for himself, and began attending night school to study to become an accountant. Part of Aldridge's inspiration was watching his father, who was laid off after 38 years with the same company, launch a new career at the age of As Aldridge said: "He started his own business in painting and decorating.
His courage still fills me with awe. With encouragement from his family, Aldridge earned his accountant's qualifications at the age of Aldridge began working for the local council authority; his ambitions remained modest, and for the next decade, Aldridge continued to work for the public sector. In the early s, however, Aldridge decided to broaden his horizons, and in took a job in London with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, or Cipfa.

Incredibly disorganised. When I left the company I got no adequate advice on how to proceed with my resignation. They never paid me as well. I am still trying to chase my salary a month after with no success. Pros They provide the IT equipment. Cons Literally everything else. Jobs at Capita.
Homebased O2 Customer Service Advisor. Customer Service Advisor. O2 Customer Service - Collections Advisor. Trainee Pensions Administrator. Homebased Customer Excellence Advisor. Do not work here. Always say that there is more to be done in the background before you get payed. Pros None. Cons No pay. You end up foing other peoples jobs that are not part of your job role Revenues Officer Former Employee - Havant - 10 October They keep extending your probation as you can't do your full job due to covid which is unfair as I was doing what I could of my job role aswell as other people's jobs from other departments.
Also was told the wage was low as I would be given a company car for own use which would be on my tax allowance and was not given one but still paid the same. Management always look down on you and patronise you. Pros Nothing. Cons Poorly organised. As a customer service rep, they monitor every second of your working life.
My new manager is just as useless and breaths down your neck every waking second. If you value even a small part of your life, avoid at all costs. Pros The desks are nice. Cons Everything else. I found it a good gap for when I needed a job quickly, not the best but not the worst.
Made good friends here. Shame about Co id as lost the contract, some higher management let the job go to their head. Pros Friends, fun.
Cons Job security. This job seemed promising from the description and interview. The site in Leek is decent, with parking, large open office space in the upstairs section I was in for mortgage processing and a canteen. The training is good and lasts for about weeks in a classroom environment and the trainer we had was fantastic.
We covered lots, got lots of background knowledge and practice on the systems etc. The problem arose once we left the training environment and went into our teams. The pressure began with targets etc after a couple of weeks of being out on the floor, and between having colleagues moaning about how little you;d done compared to them, the manager geeing you up to go faster and the online tracking system you had to fill in for each task which gave you just minutes sometimes to assess and scrutinise documentation it all felt very pressured and high stress.
The managers tend to be 'do as i say' not 'do as I do' type, appearing to do very little throughout the day other than chatting with their favourite team members, eating and shouting orders out.
The teams for the department i worked in were small about 10 and out of those, there were literally 1 or 2 people who I felt comfortable working with or asking for help and - more Pros Initial training was great and the canteen was good.
Cons Pressure, workload, toxic team-mates, clicky management. Pros Staff.
